"searching for listings" indefinitely?

Hello all,

I decided to use my afternoon off to hook up my replacement Digib0x - a Panasonic TU-DSB30 (same as the last one which recently failed).

Hooked up all the leads correctly, and yes the dish is hooked up.

All I get is a screen saying "Searching for listings. Please wait". I've waited better than 20 mins so far.

With the last Digib0x this message lasted a few seconds when first plugged in, then it went to ch999 (the "$ky Customer channel"), then all was normal.

I can't understand it, last Digib0x worked fine, and everything else remains the same.

I have my old "Blue H0use" ftv card in the new box as well.

Anybody else had this trouble? Thanks in advance for any advice offered.

Where are you?

Try seeing if you can get anything by manual tuning....

services 4 0 1 select

select maunual tuning

key in say.. 12207

select find channels once

checkout signal strength / quality (may take a few seconds to update)

press select again to find channels

Should find 4 sky news channels.....

Select one of them, store it and watch it!

If that works ok then change the default transponder to the same and download channel list

OK, I followed your instructions and all is fine now. Thank-you for your helpful advice Nick.

When you get "Searching for listings. Please wait" ,check to see if there is time showing on the banner..

If there is UK time on the banner then you have a signal & box is locked on to a default transponder..box will boot up when it completes downloading EPG (waiting time depends on the quality of your signal from the default transponder box is set at the time)

Thank-you for your advice iceman. Turns out all it needed was to hold on the backup button while powering up. If I had been a little smarter to begin with...!
