Well, in the advertisment it states:

"Also, have you seen those ads for premium rate numbers which tell you that you can tune into foreign mature content channels on a Sky Digibox? Want to know what that's all about? It's all explained in here. "

Do you know anything about this? Is it something I can do with mine?
Cheers.

LOL, avoid the book, it is purely a good way of milking the public of money for information which is free and readily available on the internet, problably all of it obtained from sites like this.

You can do pretty much bugger all with your digibox, other than watch subscription channels with your legitimate Sky subscription card and a load of free to air channels. There is a way of fooling the Sky digibox into thinking that it is connected to a telephone line so that it will order PPV films, but all that happens is that the card becomes blocked for any further PPV orders until you reconnect to the phone line and then you get a bill for the lot.

Sort of.
What they are probably getting at is moving your dish around to Hotbird or Hispasat (13E & 30w respectively) and doing a re-scan. There are FTA channels on there which cover a third of the effective viewing area around the screen with rolling premium rate numbers, and 'some' HC mature content.

There is NO 'proper' stuff on 28E and SKY digiboxes are not good at all at recieving anything else (they were designed that way),so you either have to move your dish backwards and forwards getting it spot on each time or do something else.

Bearing this in mind, you should be thinking about an FTA reciever or one that is patchable or a CI type model, and an 80cm dish.

Has anyone read bought and read this book advertised here:

http://web.onetel.net.uk/%7Egcarnell/satellite/

If so, do you think it is worth the money for a newbie who just wants the quickest cheapest route to real adult entertainment, not the watered-down UK tosh?

Thanks.

You cannot ask a book a question and receive an answer. You can here ;)

You might not get an answer to your question here though!

But then again - most do...

The two questions I guess you are referring are in the PVR section? Not one of our busiest, as most members with PVRs, either have Sky+ or Dreamboxes, and neither of the question would be appropriate to them. The question about conversion software availability can probably only be answerred in the negative.

PS. I doubt if you'll find the answer to either of those questions in the book either. ;)

I was talking about forums in general (well mostly).

I know the receiver specific question was unlikely to be a hot topic but I'd put money on many forumites replacing the hardrives in their Sky+, Dreambox, Topfield, TiVo, Fusion at some point. I mentioned what PVR I had but really, it's was a generic post with generic questions.

Lucky you didn't. :)

But I did! I went down to Paddy Power on Friday afternoon!

TBH I find it hard to believe that no one here would ever consider replacing the harddrive in their PVR. This forum is a lot more techie/DIY orientated than many others.

i am new to this website but 2 days ago i was watching multivision channel 1 and when the adult program was starting it went out and a message appeared saying "ci card initialising" i don't know why. Is there a problem with multivision?also playboy and tequilla are closed now i think or no?
