Hello everybody! I have a question regarding TV cable, what is the best cable to choose for satellite systems and digital aerials? Also i wanted to ask, does tv cables have something like frequencies which cable can be choosen for future use?For example network cable Cat6e can carry more speed than Cat5e, thats why nowadays people installing Cat6 cable for the future use. Does tv make any difference on how good picture on tv will be? For example if in future if the channel will be in 4k resolution, do i have to change the tv cable or same cable can be used?

Many thanks for your help.

All cable for digital TV should be double screened, the best is copper foil and braid, my favourite is Webro WF100 and WF125, the WF125 for very long cable runs, as it's lower loss.

Type of cable should make no difference in actual picture quality, as it's a digitally generated image, but can of course affect the signal quality, which if poor, may cause breakup. :)

Not really, just buy a good and recognised brand, Webro, Triax, Cavel, Televes, Webro is probably one of the most common.

Also it depends on the type of service your looking at, some things like a satellite system you need a higher frequency response then for a TV signal, for Tv it does not matter too much if the drop off frequency is around 1 GHz, for a satellite system it does, for that type of install a coax rated out to 2.5 or 3 GHz should be used, use the stuff rated for TV signals only in a satellite system and you will have problems.

It should be marked on the coax as to its frequency usage, if marked for CATV then don't use it for a satellite system, you can use a coax rated for a satellite system in a TV install, it will work even better.

And if the run of coax for a TV system is real long (75 to 100 meters or more) and you use an in-line pre-amp at the antenna, then use coax that has a pure copper center conductor, it has less DC voltage drop (less DC resistance) then the cheap stuff that has a copper plated steel core.
