The carrier 38 kHz is too high for normal audio but by using two diods and inverting one of the stereo channels it somehow works anyway.

Using this method I was able to access the hidden service menu in my LG by playing the clip i Audacity.
Code:
http://openlgtv.org.ru/wiki/index.php/Access_hidden_service_menus_/_modes

I have no need to hack anything at the moment but it's nice to know that it works.
I was thinking, wouldn't GNU Radio Companion be great, if set up correctly, to fast analyze and test various modulations and codes?
You'll get instant confirmation of codes working or not prior to programming your JP1 remote.
You could even set it up to brute force passwords.

Stand by for pic if I get Tapatalk working.

A novel approach...but I think a warning is in order re-brute forcing ..
Should you happen to hit the service mode access ...and activate it ...and the brute force continues transmission ...you could in theory hit and make changes in the service menus 'by accident' ..
The result of which 'might' brick your TV ..
BE VERY CAREFUL when accessing service menus ...
They are hidden from the consumer for very good reason.

VS

..just to give a simple example....
Once in the service menu of a Samsung ..it is possible to change the digital tuner type ...from a list ..as is the lcd size and screen type.
Changing this could result in a total loss of Freeview tuning or access ...
and although reverseable IF you know what you're doing ..it is not reversable if you also change the lcd screen type ..simply because you can no longer see the on screen options ..
You get the idea..

Yep, been there, done that, had to factory reset my TV, was within a month of owning it too... :-doh

On the plus side, I've forgotten how to get into the service menu now, so it's safe, for the moment... :-rofl2

English is not my first language so I didn't get it at first.
