just testing the water here does anyone know whats the best value receiver for the south of gran canaria for receiving british FTV channels i am going to be able to connect to a 1.5m dish i currently have a pace 2200&2500 hopefully aquring a new white sky freeveiw card my research tells me the pace 2600 is the best but they are quite a bit more money is it worth the investment for a holiday home??

Changing the digibox will not help that much...as if you want the main UK TV channels, BBC and ITV then the mkey restriction is your dish size....
You may get some UK FTA channels, but not the main BBC or ITV on a dish that size, the dish will be too small to receve the main UK TV channels.

Thread moved to the appropriate section.

For the main UK channels a minimum of a 2.4m offset or a large 3M prime focus will be required. Still a good handful of channels available using the small dish :)

Hi ricopaul,

Don´t know about the 2200 haven´t tried that for many years and not over here (that model is over 10 years old and will be slow at changing channels and accessing the epg), the 2500 is only fit for the landfill, probably Paces worst machine. The Pace 2600 was excellent in its day but why buy into such old tech? I found a modified (PSU rebuild) Thomson HD box had just as sensitive tuner as the 2600 and you get the advantage of HD and even for SD you can connect by HDMI giving a better picture over scart on a suitably equiped tv. But most importantly for you you would get Channel 4 HD on your small dish with a matched white card.

And if you want the main channels I would suggest a min of 2.7m offset (I have yet to see a 2.4m that works 24/7 without some breakup, and I have seen alot).
