My Satellite Setup
Vu+ duo with a 300gb hdd also dm500 and tecnomate 5200 with a 1m and 1.1m motorized dishes and minidish fixed to 28.2

Hi all

Today i set up an 80cm dish with a motor using a dm800 clone set the dish to 28.2 all was well really good snr on all channels with no ber.The next step was setting up the dm for using the motor its at this point i got lost i went into positioner setup and hot goto 0 and the i went somwhere but no zero lol i went outside and the motor has tilted to a 45 o angle on the pole. And i have scanned all the sats and its sitting at none of them so im pretty sure i have made the mistake with the dm settings. I have set the disEqc to 1.2 as the motor support this function the set the usals to my setting but the above happened any ideas???
 
Are you saying that you aligned the dish on Astra 28.2 East? Did you allow for the offset by sending the motor to 28.2 East using USALS first?

If you set the top of the arc to 28.2 East at your location, only one satellite will be OK and that will be the one you set up n.
 
Try seting your dish back to 0. Then make sure its straight in alignment then use usals drive it to 1 W and set it up on there. If you get this right all other sats will fall into the arc.

Atlantic Bird 3 @ 5°W would be better with O/P having a longitude of nearly 6°W.

Yes the dish aligned to 28.2 and i did not allow for offset i had the motor set to zero then asked the motor to zero so i have really set it out by28.2degrees doh!!!!!

So in the morning if i manully align to thor0.8w then channel scan and save channels. Then set my usals to thor with my correct longitude and latitude all should be ok? SRY for the newbie questions guys but i am learning.. and thank you for the replys
 
Ok.

  • Check mast is plumb
  • Send dish to zero, check dish is centre on motor shaft.
  • Input Long/Latitude
  • Drive dish to 5°W with USALs
  • Align dish and motor together around the mast and by dish EL.
