Hi all,
I'm struggling to get setup with 16E Eutelsat. Basically I would like to access Croatian channels HRT1, HRT2 etc.

I am a bit confused as the pre-configured transponders on my First Strike only give satellites with a Longitude of 15.8. Should I be tuning for 15.8E not 16E?
I have tried tuning a few times first using Longitude 16E and the transponder frequency and symbol rate for HRT listed on Lyngsat. I get a LOCK but when scanning channels I am only getting a grand total of 14 channels back including some Turkish cartoon channel. I tuned to 15.8 pre-configured channels as well and still don't see many channels. Does my signal strength need to be a certain level to get HRT?

What transponder info should I be using for tuning? This is what HRT shows as on Lygsat

Longitude: 16E ( I presume not 15.8?)
Frequency: 10721 H
SR: 27500
LO: (Set to frequency of LNB 97500 - My LNB has this written on the label as lowest setting)
LNB: 18 ( for horizontal )
22khz -- Do I need to enable this or not?

Should I be locking on this or is there an ideal transponder frequency to lock on to for 16E? Im sure I should get more than 14 channels from the East of the UK but maybe Im wrong?

Turkish channels? What are the channel names? It's likely you're on 7E or 42E. Forget longitude setting on FS1 - it's purely to configure the meter for "visible" satellites - it doesn't play any part in alignment.

10721H is a good frequency to search on - you shouldn't have any issues with locating this with FS1. If you're on 7E, move the dish eastwards sloooowly and slightly down. If on 42E, then move it the other way - westwards and up.

As Captain Jack says, if you are pulling in Turkish channels, you are not on 16E, there are a few on Hotbird 13E, but the bulk are on 42 and 7 East.

I'm assuming that you are manyually aligning the dish and don't have a motor?

If you check for the direction that everyones Sky dish is pointing, you need your dish to point 12 degrees further West. If you are standing behind the dish looking towards the satellites then the dish needs to point 12 degrees round to the right from everyones Sky dish and up a little bit.

One possible option would be to take a small TV outside with a satellite receiver and use the receiver menus to input a known transponder on 16E (frequency and SR should be enough). Toggle the dish until you get a signal, peak the signal then check the onscreen logo to see if it corresponds to the channel that you set the frequency and SR for.

You need to check the satellite beam maps, as some of the transponders are for Africa.
What size dish do you have?
Code:
https://www.lyngsat.com/maps/footprints/Eutelsat-16A-Europe-B.html
Code:
https://www.lyngsat.com/maps/footprints/Eutelsat-16A-Sub-Sahara-Africa.html

Check the maps on lyngsat, just click on the beam link details, under the transponder:

This is the strongest frequency on 16e. I think you should have no problems receiving channels from this satellite if you live in England.

Hi all,
I'm struggling to get setup with 16E Eutelsat. Basically I would like to access Croatian channels HRT1, HRT2 etc.
The Croatian channels are encrypted for much of the time - apart from the International channel which is fta.

Subscription cards used to be available for them although I havent seen anyone selling them for ages

This is the strongest frequency on 16e. I think you should have no problems receiving channels from this satellite if you live in England.
There shouldn't be, but if the dish has sidelobe issues (warped/damage/incompatible feedarm) there will be interference from 19 and 13 east.

I think it should work with a 1m antenna without problems. I live near this geographical area and for stable reception of 16E satellites, an antenna of at least 90 cm is recommended. Although satellite providers practice antennas of around 80-85 cm in size, in practice everything is smaller than 90 it can cause problems even with light rain.
Regarding the hrt card, the condition is the payment of 25 euros for renting the card for residents of Croatia and the monthly payment of the rtv fee. I think there is also the possibility of buying a sat card for abroad, but I did not find the price and conditions. However, this can also be solved if you have someone who lives in Croatia. and takes the card and sends it to you. No one does the checks anyway, I've never heard of such a problem.

FWIW, I have no issues at all with the HRT frequency on 16E in any weather on my T90 dish.
