Settings needed!

Dear All

I'm living in Holland and would like to receive the FTP UK channels. Understand they come from the Astra 2D (28.2E) but I can't seem to find it.

The receiver I use (older Pioneer, DBR-S100NL) together with the 60cm dish should be capable of picking it up from the air. But i'm a bit struggling with the LNB setup.

Can anyone tell me what the exactl settings are?

I've set it up like this:

Band: KU
Frequency: 10773
LNB l.o. freq: 10600
Polarisation: H
22Khz : on
Symbol rate: 22000
FEC: 5/6

Can anyone tell me if this is correct? I have the feeling that this is my problem...:mad:

To receive that frequency the 22kHz would need to be off and the LO setting should be 9750, assuming that you have a universal LNB?

On my receiver I just tell it that I have a universal LNB and it sorts out the 22kHz and the LO frequency by itself.

Are there any more FTP UK satelite channels I could receive?
Sadly from the almost 400 channels, only a few are FTA. Or... I need to get myself a Sky membership of course... but if that is what I want? 2

Looking for English language channels with info or movies.
Would anyone know if there is a satelite where Discovery and Animal planet are FTA?

Check on lyngsat for what is on the rest of 28E, there are quite a lot of FTA channels.

If you select packages on lyngsat, you can see what Sky have to offer. Normally a dedicated box and a UK address is needed.

I noticed Animal planet was FTA on a satellite last night, can't remember which one, I'll check later.

But isn't it true, that when you select these frequencies all the channels are automatically seen when you search for them? I did a complete search, about 400 where seen but of course only a few of them are visible due to wrong keys etc.
(also a few not visible like the "elvis channel" apperently they are different in modulation or so.)

Or is it possible to select a different freq. let say 10758 and do a new scan with more channels. (Are all other settings the same than?)

Need to connect second LNB to the switch than, as I use a flat panel for this. Currently I'm testing this panel but sofar with good performance;)

Not really sure what you are saying here, it depends upon your stb and what scanning mode you are using. For example my stb has the option to include scrambled channels or exclude scrambled channels when scanning

It has little to do with keys and more to do with encryption, NDS is not compromised therefore cannot be viewed without a subscription unless you are watching an FTA channel

Again this is dependant upon your stb, some allow 'blind' scanning which should find all channels across the spectrum, others only allow scanning particular frequencies

Can you get all FTA channels from 28E? if so you have everything set up OK. If not, you will ned to recsan the relevant transponders and possibly add missing ones, unless you have blind scan as Topper says.

Must have made a mistake, I have no FTA Animal planet after all.

Currently not at the receiver so I can't tell which channels I have for the full 100% and it depends on what are "ALL" the FTA channels?

I can see the BBC channels and some ITV channels but not one SKY, Elvis channel, or the car manufactorer channels who seems to have its own channel (Believe it is Dodg or Chrysler or something)

My Pioneer DBR-S100nl did a scan on several transponders and came up with 300+ channels. Yes I can scan for TV channels only, but still it mixes up with data and radio channels as well. Not a problem, I fit them in somewhere and remove when not interested. U-zzz

If this sounds like the FTA UK channels than so be it. I have some friends in the UK, perhaps I can ask them for a Sky membership, but than I need Sky reception first.

Or is Sky also FTA somewhere?

Keys are needed for decription! Without keys, no TV, or you need a subscription of course, but I'm not directly after an other subscription for the amount of TV I watch. Ohh and I'm not a hacker or so, I just want some UK channels because I don't speak Italian, French and hate the German voices under US movies!:-Nooo

I only have a Dutch CanalDigital subscription and because there only a few Dutch channels available I'm looking for English spoken FTA channels. (preferably BBC, ITV, SKY and channels like Discovery and Animal Planet)

I do a complete scan on the Astra D (28.2E) channel. System (Pioneer DBR-S100NL) found several transponders and up to 300+ channels. Most of them are not displayed due to subscriptions I think. All channels, including the "invisible" ones are included after storing them.

Ohh ehh, would it be better to receive the Hotbird satelite perhaps? If I want the FTA channels for the UK, would that be possible?

What are the settings for the LNB/Receiver?

No, the FTA English channels are on 28E.

If you go through your transponder list, and check you have all those that are listed for 28E on Lyngsat, you will see if you have any transponders missing. Any that you have missing that carry FTA channels that you want, then you need to add them. Then scan. There are far more than 300 channels on 28E, but as you say most are encrypted. But a fair few are not. Lyngsat lists all the FTA ones with a red F in column 5 I believe.

Thanks for your answer. Perhaps I need to remove some of the channels, as the Pioneer only is capable of receiving 2000 channels.
And than do a rescan.

Just in case I want to receive the Eurobird (to see what is on there) can you tell me the settings for the receiver? (Freq, LNB L.O. Freq, etc):-worship

10.700 - 11.700 Ghz = low band LO 9.750
11.720 - 12.750 Ghz = High band LO 10.600
