Hi

I have a motorised dish with a Spiderbox STB. As my STB went faulty today I changed to another Spiderbox.

I started by adding in the channels from 28e and this all went fine. I went to do Hotbird next but couldn't pick up the satellite. I then went back to 28e and this wasn't picking upt he channels I had just added.

I am getting around 70% signal wherever I move the dish but quality is always 2%.

What's gone wrong and what do I need to check?

Thanks

Strength reading of 70%in the absence of any meaningful Quality is the quiescent reading for your system ................. It reflects no more than that you have an LNB connected and powered up.

That means, therefore, that you have somehow lost dish alignment.

Is it windy?

When you swopped boxes, did you check the DiSEqC/USALS settings?

Check that the dish is moving when you change satellites. Also check that you have set up up the motorised dish control properly in the receiver settings.

Are you using DiSEqC 1.2 or USALs?

I can confirm that the dish is actually moving. The settings are:-

Motor - DiSEqC 1.2
LNB - Universal
Power - Auto
Modulation - DVB-S QPSK

I can go from full east to full west and not pick up any signal quality.

it's too dark now to see if the dish has moved so I will haev to check in the morning.

Yes, but you swopped boxes, so does the box you are using now have each relevant Satellite position stored in DiSEqC?

ie The new box doesn't know where the Satellites are .......................

USALS or Diseqc 1.2??

If usals, have you pressed the green button and entered your long and lat?

If Diseqc 1.2, have you gone round storing the positions again?

I had to add the satellite positions in so I started with 28e and added in and scanned channels ok. When I tried 13e I couldn't find the satellite and when I went back to 28e I had lost those channels as well.

Switch it to USALS, set your local parameters, send dish to zero/reference, then go for the satellites again.

And if that doesn't do it, you may need to reset the Motor itself. They often have a pin-hole under the body where a straightened out paper clip should fit nicely.

But do check your Motor instruction leaflet first.

The pin hole reset switch has to be pressed with the motor at zero, if not, electronic zero will no longer be at mechanical zero.

Thanks for all the advice.

Once I've been up to the dish I will let you know what I find!
