Signal loss using loop through?

My Satellite Setup
1.4m PF Fagor fixed dish Invacom quad C120 LNB. Amstrad SD Sky Rx 1 feed with Sky Subs. 2nd feed via DISEqC switch to my DB500S, 3rd to a Ross HD Rx.The switch also connects my 1m dish with a Motsat3 motor to DB. Satlook Micro G2 meter

What is the signal loss (I am in a fringe area) if I use the loop out of my DB 500 to another receiver? Please see my set-up. I am struggling to get another feed from my LNB because I have previously given my two neighbours one feed each from my quad. The fourth goes to my subs $kybox.

I know that the extra receiver would be a slave with the power to the LNB switched off. I am looking at the Ross HD pack from B&Q because a mate in the UK can get a further discount due to relative working there. It looks a good buy. I don't need the dish but could re-cycle the LNB.

Would I be able to receive "25%" of the channels on the slave corresponding to the H/V polarity and H/L frequency as selected on the master? I have got this right?

At least I could look around via my motor for any clear HD channels if this would work.

There should be no signal loss on the loop out or <1dB worse case scenario.

The loop out will give you what ever band/polar the master receiver has asked for.
 
I have a crap FTA receiver with the IF out feeding a Hauppauge HD card in the computer, over 40+ meters of cable. On weak signals the crappy FTA receiver often shows a black screen with the occasional square while the Hauppauge shows a perfect picture, often even when it starts raining.

The sensitivity of the second tuner is more significant than any loss. I doubt the Ross HD receiver will be particularly sensitive given how cheap it is.

To be honest I have rarely found a higher cost of receiver = better tuner sensitivity.

If the distances are not too great, you could change the quad for an Octo (of the same feed design) and run a second feed into the house.

(Otherwise go ask one of your neighbours to give up one of their cables).
