need advice on simple set up for sky minidish zone 1. basically want hd receiver to view the 250 channels (or anything else i can get) from this 43cm dish. have got it connected to old sky box in spare room which is fine.
just want something to hook up to my new hd ready tv and dvd/home theatre system so need hdmi and optical outputs.
if it can record then thats a bonus more bothered about picture quality.

Have a look, for example, at some of the Freesat Boxes listed down the right hand column of

was hoping to get more channels than freestat provides from the astra 28.2e satellite.the mvision hd200 from maplins states you can get these and looking at these channels they are fine for moment.just want simple to set up, reliable hd receiver.
 
The freesat receivers also have a 'non freesat' channels mode which you can toggle between. Also check out the forum site sponsors for a receiver deal.
 
Paul is right - in essence the Freesat Receivers will get you every single FTA Channel.

Ok, some are them aren't on the 7 day EPG, but then a non-Freesat Receiver like the Maplins one you mention won't get any at all with 7 day EPG. You'll only get "Now and Next".

Maplins is very expensive and often their Product Descriptions are ambiguous (I couldn't possibly use the word "misleading").
 
thats fantastic news didnt realise freestat receivers could get other channels,after trawling net for hours looking at satellite receivers answer is simple.freestat site recommends technistat hdfs freestat hd receiver got all i want and outputs.
just need new lnb from sky minidish.
