Simple phono sound meter?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a simple meter I could plug into the analogue audio phono sockets on satellite receivers to see the volume level. I am installing a number of different make receivers, and I would like them to have the same volume. I will be doing this on a regular basis, so a meter rather than by ear would be good.

This one's an easy one to make if you're handy with a soldering iron. LED display, bar graph or moving dots.

Thanks Llew, looks good. Shame I can´t source a ready made one in a box. My usual sources (Ebay and Maplins) don´t have one.
 
I've used an old Philips cassette recorder (set to record) before now to operate the meter at the top of the unit, though many of the later portable radio cassettes have dual meters for left/right. Almost any second hand shop would have one for the price of a pint. You would need a phono to 2.5mm adapter lead.
 
Yes CH, thats a nice simple solution. Never thought I would use an old analogue portable tape deck again!
