Can anyone help ?

I cannot send any attachments using the email system on this PC as Outlook Express decides they could be potential virus harbouring

Is there any way I can overcome this in the set up, Ive looked in the help files to no avail.

What extensions do thay have? You could try changing them to something on the Outlook 'safe' list like .pdf

Of course the person you are sending them to will need to change them back, which might be a problem if they don't know how :)

Ive so far only sent them as .doc s which is where the problem arises.

Zipping them up overcomes the issues, however as you say, the recipient has to have Winzip installed.

I was hoping for some priority window, that allows me to adjust the type of attachments that can be let straight out, everything on here is checked for AV before it goes through the firewall into the big world.

There should be nothing stopping you from simply renaming them "whatever.zip", and have the recipient rename them back. No need to actually use an unzipper.

Try going to Tools > Options > Security and uncheck the box "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus"

Not sure if that applies to sending as well as receiving attachments.

Re zips

If the recipient has XP then they don't need an unzipper as the OS treats the zip as a folder.

Ihanks, again as these are outgoing messages to a number of people I would not know whats at the other end, nor wish to simply rename them
