Single dish19E,28E setup in north Scotland advice please.

Hi folks, new to the forum.

I posted on another thread earlier, but have thought it better to start a new thread rather than hijack!

I'm looking to recieve Astra 1 and 2 using a single dish on the north coast of scotland, 58 degrees north. I intend to recieve sky HD (existing box) and the free german language channels through a pace DS810XE box I own.

I've been looking at an inverto multiconnect connect kit and the Triax 20 degree multibar from satellite superstore.

A number of questions:

1) Will an 85cm dish do the job this far north?

2) Would the inverto kit be better due to its ability to to alter the LNB elevation as well as the horizontal angle to the dish? I believe that from my location there is a 2.5 degree difference between 19E and 28E elevations. Does this make a significant difference?

3) With either of these kits, is it best to have one of the lnb's (and if so, which) in the central position with the other off to one side, or to have the dish pointed "between" satellites with an lnb at either side of the bar?

hello,
i saw this and the 2 satellites are 9 degrees apart and not 2.5.
to receive both with 1 dish you need to move the dish with a motor or move the lnb with a motor.
you probally better with a toridal dish and 2 lnb with 2 lines one for sky at 28 degrees and the other at 19 degrees.
this way 2 boxes will be needed.

The 2.5 degrees is referred to as elevation not azimuth ralphmagno.

The Triax offset bracket is designed to be tilted to account for the EL differences between the satellites. You can focal on 19e and offset 28e, this works fairly well. Using the Triax bracket there is a small mod you can do in order to allow the focal LNb to sit dead centre. The inverto kit is also an option although they are fairly pricey but look as if they have more adjustment, although not used one as of yet. Dish size of 85cm should be fine for reception of both satellites.
 
Using a dish of that size, putting the 19E LNB at focus with the Triax mod would not be necessary. Actuallyy, it would work better on 28E if you didn't, as the signal on 19E is plenty strong enough to be off the focus by a few degrees or more.

A torroidal dish is not needed for those two, as they are both strong and fairly close together.

Just one question to follow up on what Robbo said:

Sorry for my ignorance, but are you saying that I should have the LNB in the central position of the dish focussed on 28E and the offset LNB to 19E because 19E is a stronger signal?

I assume I'll still have to do a bit of vertical adjustment for the elevation differences?

If so, am I best to have the dish at 1 elevation and vertically offset one of the LNB's, or would I be better trying to aim the dish between the two then have one LNB "up" and the other "down"? I suppose for the 2.5 degrees difference I probably couldn't get it that exact if I tried?

The inverto kit will be £195 all in, compared to £180 for the Triax. For such a small difference I'd prefer the best one. Thoughts?

Seems pretty clear to me that Robbo is saying that 19E is so strong that you can be a couple of degrees out with it without losing any signal, hence by focussing on that but on the outer edge nearest to East and having the offset at 28.2 East, this will help improve the overall 28.2 East signal
 
Why not focus on 23.5e? That would be about half way between the two wanted satellites.
