Gentlemen I am 30Km North of Dublin on the East Coast of Ireland. I am interested in maximising my reception of Viasat on Sirius. I am using a Channel Master 1.8M offset dish with an INVACOM SNH-031 0.3dB Universal LNB seeing 33E to 30W. My receiver is a DM800 PVR(Gemini 5.1img), at present I have PL Xtra channels(11.747V) 24/7 except in heavy rain/snow. The strenght of the channels signal varies by 25% over the course of the day. Whereas 11.727H comes in for about 4hrs a day as best I can log it. The same is true also for 11.997V and 12.092V. These are examples of a pattern. Should I be seeing more and what would reccommend as a wat to improve reception in my home? All thoughts most welcome.

I would say you are getting as much as you are going to get. I get enough signal on 11747 to scan in the channels most of the time and occasionaly signals on 11862 and a couple of others with my 1.1m dish. I never get anything on the horizontals. It is simply a matter of geography, if you look at the Nordic beam footprint on Lyngsat etc we should not be getting anything at all.
 
Thanks to you both. I am able to watch the football on PL Xtra except in very bad weather. I guess that is as good as it will get. Thanks for the link I learned a lot. Bigger dish? will have to kill the wife then..lol
 
what snr are you getting on the pl channels????
 
I am getting SNR 45 BEr 3350 with slight fade as the evening arrives but viewable 24/7 except in Very heavy rain These reading with DM800SE and 1.8M Channel Master and Inverto 0.3db lnb
 
You could also try another receiver with a more sensitive tuner the skybox M3 seems popular with a sharp tuner first before you go with the bigger dish it may help but in the end a bigger dish is the way forward
 
no joy with me 50 miles west of you, defo a 2.4m in offaly
