I may have to record Dr.Who on Saturday and would like to do that in HD. It's 45 minutes long, anyone any idea if the recording will be over 8Gb in size?

Unlikely.

Nearer 4-6 GB, judging by the Data Transfer rates my F3 shows when recording HD (Though it varies from Channel to Channel to some extent).

Highest rate I've noticed on HD is 1.6MB/sec which comes to , err ,err, whirr, whirr, just less than 6 GB per hour (innit?)

PS: If you have a Live Pause feature, disable it as that chews Memory as well.

PPS: If in any doubt, commit viewing heresy and record in SD ................
