Sky+ box records on freeview?

hi, i've just ended my sky subscription and using the standard box to get the freeview channels now. If i buy and instal a 2nd hand sky+ box, will i be able to record / time shift etc OR do i need to have a sky subscription to use these features? had conflicting info.....

welcome to satellites forum,

At the moment, you require a subscription from the provider to use the 'plus' record facility.

Technomate 5402 HD M2 Ci, DM7000s, Transparent 80cm Dish, Moteck SG2100 DiseqC motor, lots of legacy gear. Meters: Satlook Digital NIT, Promax HD Ranger+ spectrum analyser.

You will have to either subscribe or pay them £10 per month for the privilege.

Probably worth waiting a few months for the Freesat PVRs to be released. :)
