Sky+ box shows 30% used when empty

That is, when all programmes have been deleted, it till shows 70% free!

Any ideas - I've given up trying to get hold of the Technical support line from SKY on the phone, have waited a total of 90 minutes on three calls with no answer....

Press SERVICES then 4 - 0 - 1 - SELECT and choose FULL SYSTEM RESET

This should help but might reset some settings that you may have changed. But you should have 100% free after this.
 
There is a bug currently that means when a program recording fails the disk space is never released back for use. The only way to get this space back is to do as Leee sugests.

The other thing that does take up space is instant rewind.
