hello picking up my sky card tomorrow, which my brother in law in northern ireland has arranged for me.
is it better for my bother in law to phone sky to get it activated for me,he is still in n. ireland and has got my box details,or
as i have got a uk mobile phone, just phone them from here in tenerife.
thanks.

May as well get your Brother in law to do it, just make sure that the card is in the digibox when he phones and thst he has all of the information from the system information screen.

finally got my sky card this morning.
going to give sky a ring in an hour or so to activate the card from
here in tenerife, with my uk mobile phone.
what questions will they ask me as i want to get everything ready beforehand.is it just the system
details,card number etc.
thanks.

They generally ask your name and address/postcode (where the card is registered to); the box serial number, which they might not ask direct but instead walk you through the menus and ask you to read the details out, and sometimes the software version (from the same menu screen).

The only other question they have asked me is "is this a replacement or second box?" but they have been known to ask where people bought boxes from!

If you have the card in the box and the box turned on they will walk you through finding everything you need. If they ask about connecting it to a phone line saying something about not having a line installed yet is reported to get them off your back quicker than saying you don't want to connect it (at which point a great speech about interactive stuff might start). :)

finally got the card activated.
tried to do it myself, thought i had all the info,
until they asked me the password,(my brother in laws mothers maiden name),which i didnt know.
so got my brother in law to activate it from n.ireland.
second pass word they asked him, name of his dog.
everything now ok.
