Hi. I have never been a customer of Sky. However, I recently subscribed to Setanta and in order to do so, I had to buy a second hand sky box and use the 'out of sub' sky card that came with it in order to get my Setanta Sub up and running.
I have sent 5 mails over the past few weeks to Setanta looking for an answer to the following query - and yet to get a response from the useless B_____ds.

Should I cancel my setanta sub or will they accomodate me by sending out another card? There must be quite a lot of people that fall into this bracket - would be useful if Setanta could provide a clear answer!!

they will most certainly not send you a new card (for free). Neither will Sky. I guess you'll have to buy a new FTV card once they become available, and then contact Setanta to transfer your subscription onto that new card.

do you think FTV card would be still available after the card swap???,as ITV ,channel4 and Channel 5 will end the contract with sky as from april this year

so many ppl relay on the FTV signals (12.402 & 12.480) to watch ITV and CH4 ,because they dont get 2D at all

Yeah, I don't wanna lose these channels, especially ITV1

Let's hope everything will be OK..

No FTV cards over here (ROI) unfortunately. It really is poxy as I am a legitimate setanta customer - the longwinded way i had to get my sub setup was ridiculous. Not only will I have the hassle of trying to cancel with setanta (1001 posts on that on various forums), I won't be able to do what I did before (ie. buy a second hand card - as the white cards will be brand new - will take a few months before they will be around for resale).

I do still have the contact details for the person I bought the card off - but from what I understand they won't be sending new cards out to that address (ie. the address of an expired sub customer)??
Or if they do, they will end up with free setanta courteousy of me!

if sky drops the FTV card, as many seem to think, then I guess it'll be up to Setanta to hand out new cards to their customers. Setanta really should make a statement about what it's going to do. They might even keep the current NDS2 encryption on their channels, so that current customers can continue to watch with their current cards. After all, what's Zee gonna do, and Nollywood, and other distributors which use sky digiboxes to view their channels ?
