Sky Card swap out - Probably bad news for Dreambox users

Came across this while i was over on TW. Its regarding Skys upcoming card swap out. Takes the p*ss really that uncle Rupe is wasting all that money in beefing up an already secure encryption system.

No idea how much truth there is in it but you can guarentee that Cccam or other emus won't be able to read this new card in much the same way as it can't handle a Sky Italia NDS3 card

This could be very bad news indeed for users of linux based receivers.

Well the problem is that whilst the card is susceptible to card sharing, then it isn't secure. There must be thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands of people watching Sky (and other providers) on IP server connected receivers and it surely was going to be addressed sooner rather than later.

Whats going to happen where the old card isnt paired to the box - our old Grundig broke almost 2 years ago and Ive never bothered getting the card paired to the replacement Sky+ box.

Will the pairing be sorted out or will the new card also be on the wrong box :D

(Recording doesnt work but we record so infrequently we have never wanted it!)

Well I guess that you are soon going to find out.:)

Since Sky Italia have been using NDS3 for a while, hopefully this is being worked on by the EMU creators.

I've read elsewhere that people are managing to share the Italian NDS3 cards using a CCcam/Newcs. Is there any truth in this?

Does anyone know if these predicted new sky cards include their freesat cards or just the pay to view ones?

All of them.

NDS3 Works fine with CCcam + NewCs
If anything it seems far more stable.
I guess some of you will need to do some homework on NewCs as my guess is that will be the first platform that a share will work on. [ But don't quote me ]

I take it that this also will affect Irish viewers (i.e. the card swap)?

Has anyone received the new cards?

I've not heard of anyone, will post when I do.:)

this is a quote from a member in newcs board

Hi, I have problem reading my new NDS-card. All I get is "unknown card".
I have tried NewCS 1.62, 1.65 and some older versions but no result.
My reader is a USB Phoenix FT232BM and I have tried different Mhz and parity settings.
I use Ubuntu Server 8.10 with kernel 2.6.27-11-server.

I have tried to read it in my DM600PVR with NewCS 1.65 but with the same result.
Tried a older NDS-card that worked like a charm.

he just confirmed that is the latest version VIASAT NDS cards ,by the way the latest viaccess 4 card out already not working for CS ,viaccess officialy claim´s that this card is Anti-sharing and anti-glitching
look here---->_http://www.viaccess.com/en/,is it the beggining of the end of CS????,,i would say may be ,because it went all out of control :(..regards

I must admit I was posting previously on here that I thought they would not change the cards due to the expense. Humble Pie for me.

Looks like it is going ahead - Sly employees are testing cards as we speak.

FreesatfromSky Cards will be replaced free within 3 years of date of purchase if bought in isolation or, if acquired with hardware/installation, within 5 years.

Lol the wheels keep on turning, sometimes up sometimes down.
I remember a time when we had to enter the box numbers into the cam configs for sky cards to work on dreamboxes, so maybe this will return or maybe not. But this is what keeps this interesting, always something new. to all those people losing sleep about their card sharing not working anymore: If you are so affected by it, buy a legal card - or just enjoy the ride while it lasts :)

We cant complain, as we have had a great run!

Who knows whats around the corner!:)

Can't remember how long they've been running, but I guess around four years, so there are going to be quite a few left out in the cold.

CS out of control. Went to my sat dealer today to get a bracket and was shown box with connection to server for Prem, DigiAlb etc for £160.

Every bloke and his dog now ripping off the provs and they have had enough.

In future sharing via streaming wifi decoded pic. with your neighbour will be the way to go, they can never stop that.

True enough, Rolf - but then again they don't do a right lot nowadays!

Sultana Sports News, Sky3, Fiver, Five US and some EPG related placements for Auntie and Mr.Grade.

Mine is one of the soon to be defunct ones: "Am I bovvered?" 'O'-red

I had a digital + spain card and as long as you kept the old one it tells you the codes needed for the new one. Polsat have sent out new cards and now you can already share them.
If you trace backwards you can find out what is needed usually !

Don't think NDS works the same. Probably going to end up using NewCS / Cccam to read it. Hopefully it won't be long before someone figures out how to get it to read the card if they haven't already.

If it isn't figured out soon i'll be cancelling my sub as theres no way i'm going back to using the pile of s*it Sky have the nerve to call a receiver :-rofl2
