Hi all very new at this so please be gentle
i have had a system put in i have a humax hd box and all is ok i have just been given a THOMSON DSI- 4214 C box i have also bought a £20 viewing card from sky to try and get c4 c5 and film4 i have been told by sky that the card is activated when i look in system details it states no card i have been told to update my box i have forced a software update it has gone from 3.5.3
to 3.6.4.18
the epg has no channel 4 or 5 on it can any body help me

How long is it since you requested Activation?

I'm afraid that FSFS Cards have a habit of being given low priority and experience suggests it can take anything up to 24 hours or so before all the FTV Channels become available - especially 104, 105 and the 101 and 102 corresponding to the UK Postcode where the Card is Registered.

Film 4 is FTA, by the way, so you should get that on your Thomson.

And, of course, all the Channel 4 family (apart from HD) and Five (but not Fiver or Five US) are FTA as far as your Humax Box is concerned.

Oh, and if the Thomson has been disconnected from the mains, it is possible for the Card to fail to receive the Activation signal or subsequent Stay Alive signals, so I suggest you leave it plugged in until you get success with the Card. A Card that goes to sleep can take up to 72 hrs to wake up.

the card is new it was activated last week but i have only inserted it today for about 4 hours maybe i will have to wait, how do i know if i am running the latest software from sky in the thompson box

Ok, if the Card was activated (back in the UK?) last week, it'll take up to 72 hours (probably much less!) to become fully operational in the Thomson at your current location.

Don't worry - just be patient!

The software you have is not the very latest, but is not an issue.

3.6.4.18 is the latest version on the Forced Download Stream, but a new Version 3.7.summat is doing the rounds at present and you'll find the Thomson will update to it automatically quite soon.

Be aware, though, that the 3.7 version introduce Auto Standby, which sounds grand, but is pointless and useless.

You'll know you have it when your Box goes into Standby before the end of the film you are watching! It saves no energy as Murdoch Boxes only turn off their Video and Audio output circuits in standby.

Fortunately, you can disable the "feature"!

System details screen should show your card number.

Check the card is inserted correctly.

hi ok my card is know showing with a forced download channel 4 and 5 is now on my epg when i go to ch 4 it say's no satellite signal and on ch 5 is says call sky to upgrade to recive this channel the card is in and reconised by the box
is it just a case of waiting
 
It's just a case of waiting.
Channel 4 is on Astra 2D, that's why you have no signal in Spain. Try putting the Irish version in your 'add channels', 12480 V is the frequency. If ITV interests you it's at 12408 V.
