Sky digi dialler is a device that lets a Sky digibox call Sky from outside the UK, for registering cards and PPV events.

I imagine it tricks the digibox into thinking there is a dial tone, lets it dial, while at the same time it's dialling the full number, including the foreign access code. Then when the modem at Sky answers it would connect the digibox to the phone line, which now has a line to Sky.

There are other ways it could work, but that seems the most straight forward.

But I don't know how you would go about making one from scratch. I've thought about how you could do it yourself (as in have the box dialing on a duff dial tone while you dial the full number with a phone, then connected the two and hang the phone up) but that's quite a fiddly.

ah, thanks.

yes, it does sound extremely complex, as a self-build from scratch!

It is fairly complex but why bother, they are very cheap, check smart2check.com - you would need to consider a whole array of things like agc, silencing the lines when transferring the calls and dialling the digits, also call drop detection, you need to think about this, on the other hand of course you could buy a pbx or line transfer device and these are very expensive but there are specialist companies like [SIZE=-1]natcomm.com.au who make transfer units for transferring one line to another...

Go to the local online auction site (e**y) and search for "el**********" as a seller. here you will find your dialer. only a tenner too. waiting for mine to arrive.

No, that is a 9v battery connected to fool the box into thinking that it is connected to a phone line, what is being discussed above is a unit to enable activation of viewing cards outside the UK and legitimate ordering of PPV events.

The battery and connector on ebay is not even necessary and certainly not worth a tenner. You can achieve the same result in other ways which cost you either nothing or less than a pound..
