Sky Digital setup problems on new TV...

Sorry in advance, as I'm pretty sure this may be in the wrong place, mods, feel free to boost to the correct section.

TV packed in yesterday, so i picked up a new one.

Tried to set up the digital tv, as it was yesterday, all working fine & dandy, but no matter what I do, all I get is "No satellite signal is being recieved"

It's driving me insane. The new telly has 2 scart sockets (tried both) so I was looking forward to having the dvd player plugged in constantly, and not having to swap cables, but now I can't even get Sky going...

Can anyone help? Here's what I'm working with. I've tried every logical approach.

Cheers.

Could be the dish input connection causing a problem. Make sure the F connector is ok and that the outer sheath is not touching the centre wire. The centre wire should just be poking out of the plug and slot nicely into the dish input.

Well within the metal end of the connector, the bit that screws on, there's a core of black rubber (about 4mm)with what looks like a copper wire centre. Should the copper protrude beyond the black rubber surround? At the moment, it sits flush with it...

Yes ... so that it will slot into the Dish input socket by a couple of mms.

Yep, five minute job. You can google 'how to fit F connector'.
