Sky Dish reciever?

Hi All

Just moved house and previous owner has left the their SKY Dish up

my questions is - can i just plugin an Receiver and pick up Astra 28 channels or does it have to be a Sky Receiver?

Any digital satellite receiver would be fine for the free to air channels.

I think the (BBC) Freesat receivers are on sale now, they had them on the Comet website for £50 recently.

For the encrypted ones you need a Sky Digibox or some other suitably eqipped hobbiest receiver.

Hi there just plug an old sky box in and see if you get anything, at worst the LNB cound be a bit weathered but are real cheap to pick-up (fleabay) and are easy to replace. As a sky tech i would say the chances are good that it will work just fine.
