sky + do I need to subscribe, I have a £15 per month subscription if I bought a sky plus box from ebay could I record from sky onto the hard drive with any extra subsription ?
 
Yes you would need to subscribe for sky+, it's an extra £10 ontop of your current sub or free if you have a premium package...

Yep, silly I know, having to pay just to record something...
 
Its about time this ridiculous "recording tax" was dropped.

Thats money for old rope, from sky surley not... oh its a cheap panasonic box and my recordable dvd-vcr for me then....thanx for the quick reply..

You could try a Dreambox PVR, I think they can do the keep-alive thing too... ;)
 
I need a new box for my gran as for some reason hers can't recive channel 4 or 5 even with a yellow house card I think the tuner may be on its way out.
I thought I might buy a sly plus for me and give her my old one,I didnt want to spend a fortune Panasonic sly boxes are going for £20 including delivery so I guess I will go for one of them...
