My Satellite Setup
4 systems. In Scotland Freesat with Humax Foxsat recorder. In Algarve 1.5 fixed Inv Quad LNB with 3 Pace 2600C1 and 1 Amstrad HD DRX780UK also 80cm dish with Inverto 0.2db monoblock LNB (19.2E/26E) feeding Technomate 5000CI+ usb.

I am running a Sky+ HD box with single feed mode in Algarve. I have trouble with the weekly EPG. When I look at anything more than 24 hours later I get message "no listings available" I have two HD boxes, 1 a Samsung and the other a Thomson, and it happens with both. I also have a Pace 2600C1 and it works perfectly. Also with my HD boxes I only get program info regarding the program that I am watching,but not on my Pace. Any ideas?
 
I think the full 7 day EPG data is on 11778 only. Yet all other frequencies carry small amounts of EPG data, hence why you can get about 12 hours or so of data. So if you are unable to receive frequency 11778 your EPG data shown will be limited.
So maybe your pace 2600 handles the 11778 frequency better than the other boxes. (just put a few on test and see the samsung and thomson hd boxes dont like 11778 as much as the amstrads or pace 2600 do!). Not all receivers have the same components and so do not all behave the same (for example a car is a car but some makes perform better than others)
I know some installers near me use signal attenuators on their system, which helps the reception of the 11778 and other astra 2 north beams, but I have seen that they do reduce recception of other weaker freqeuencies.
 
Thanks for your reply. With what you say in mind I have added channel 8010 which is on 11778 along with EPG audio. I am able to view ch8010 (a Sky promotional channel), so I do not believe that I can have any difficulties with receiving 11778
 
It might be worth looking at the firmware versions each of the receivers is running, just in case they are not the latest.

You could also drag a cable over to the Samsung Thomson and run in dual feed mode temporarily, as the EPG data runs into one tuner, the programme content runs into the other (as I found out last week).

I have just tried my cable in the other tuner. Naturally I get "no satellite signal" but when I put the cable back into proper place lo and behold full EPG. Thanks again Hopper
 
you could always pop the box into single feed mode, so it only uses input 1 all the time for whatever you are doing.
Until it is in single feed mode, it will use input 2 when input 1 is in use...like if you are watching a channel and want to use the EPG.

Not sure if this helps anybody, but after reading through this thread, there seems to be two problems, the one related to recording and the one related to the EPG data.
I can't help with the recording one, and tbh don't actually care enough about it to even worry about it.

However, the EPG not downloading more than about 6hrs is a problem for me (as I do like to use reminders).
I never switch the box into standby, as i'm lazy like that. I don't like switching things off, as most things break when you switch them on, hence why I now have a HD box with 1 cable

It's a Samsung box with OS SYSF26.59.01 and EPG 40.0.14.1, the box is set to single feed mode, has only 1 cable and i don't configure any 'dummy' recordings.
Anyway, having tested switching the box into standby overnight, still leaves it with no EPG in the morning, so I would say under certain conditions that the standby methodology fails.

However I have found that if I choose Add Channel, and use the 11.778 V 27.5 and 2/3 and it finds 3 channels, either Add the channel called 8010 (Sky Promo, and it's a damn annoying 30 secs repeating advert) or the EPG background Music (quite nice) - Remember to store your choice, you can then view one of these channels, and then choose TV guide, and it will populate the bit you are looking at, thus allowing you to fill it up to 7 days in advance. The information then gets cached so it's visible when on normal channels.

The reason would apper to be that the full EPG is transmitted on that transponder.

A tad clunky, but a bit of a workaround for me, at least until i can be bothered getting on the roof and swapping the dish and adding a second cable feed.

Extrapolating further, switching off completely at night when outside the main footprint may also give rise to EPG loss even if the box is configured in single tuner mode.
 
I have always run my HD box on single feed mode. I have just tried my unused HD box and tried the workaround of post #9 and it has worked well. I am now wondering if my previous attempt of swapping the cable/tuners actually achieved anything as immediately before that I had added channel 8010 manually.
 
Have you tried the same with the second HD box to see if there are any operating differences ?
 
There does not appear to be any operating differences but I have not tested for long. The Thomson box does not appear to keep the 7 day EPG for longer than a couple of hours so it doesn't seem to have a cache. I'll try the Samsung later
 
I have resurrected this thread as I have again lost skyEPG. When I go to 11778V I find that there are no channels. Does anybody know if the EPG is being transmitted on another frequency?

The full EPG is only on that transponder - all other transponders can only provide 12 hours or so of data. So your only solution is a larger dish capable of receiving 11778V.
