Sky HD in the Canaries.

My Satellite Setup
1.25m dish, sky+ HD digibox, Amstrad DRX890z, Sony vaio VGN-NR11Z/S

I'm led to believe that more channels are available on HD with an HD box. If this is the case, were I to buy an HD box with card from someone in the UK, how do I then pay for the service?. Does the card remain registered to the original owner or not and if it does, do I then have to enter an arrangement with them or is it a case of just knowing their details to enable me to change a subscription direct debit? Any help would be appreciated.
Just wish to goodness that I could pick up the phone and order direct with Sky but of course one can't.
 
Second-hand equipment contract subscription, registered UK address. Of course worth noting in Fuerteventura you'll need a dish of approx 3.1m for most of the UK stuff transmitted on the spot beam.

Thanks Satelliteman, are you saying that HD is a spot beam? ie different to normal reception. My dish is 1.2m with quite good reception, if larger dish is needed, I would not bother, no way on God's earth I'm putting up a 3.1 dish.

BBC HD is on the spot beam yes but the Hd subs are as mentioned above.
 
Thanks Satelliteman and Analoguesat, the HD box is probably worth a punt even if only for the addition of C4. Would love to get BBC but I find the 1.2m dish offensive enough without the monstrosity of a 3.1m stuck on the roof. As far as ITV is concerned, in the three weeks it's been available with the new test frequency, I've not put it on once, the prorammation is appalling, so no loss there then.

You will almost certainly lose C4 HD if/when its moved to Astra 2D.

And be aware that when the new Astra 2E - 2G satellites come into service from late 2012 they will have additional spotbeam capacity so you can expect to start losing other services that you currently receive.
