Just got a sky+ box from e-bay. Put my subscription card in (there are no premium channels only a 6 mix so works in all boxes) but says I have to upgrade to receive sky+ services. I thought it was now included with your subscription. If I ring what will they ask as I don`t know what address in the UK the card is to. Help !!!
Have I just wasted £70.
The subscription card is paid through a company in the UK which comes up on my bank statement as The Satellite Shop but cant seem to find how to contact them ..... Any ideas??? :-worship

If you do a google search for satelliteshop, it comes up with a few entries. Phone your bank, they will be able to give you more details, as a phone call needs to be made to Sky.

silly question but where did you get your sky card from

The Satellite shop is based in Southborough, Kent.
If you don't have the subscription details, there's no way recording will be switched on by Sky.
You will have to get a new subscription or find out in whose name the original card was issued to.

Found them now, they are now storesatellite.com and they are rearly helpful, but I do have another problem.
They have sent the signal 6 times now to pair the box and card together but my box never receives the signal so continues to say the 'wrong card for set top box blah blah....'
What could be wrong....Iv'e cleaned the contacts on card coz I had a theory that maybe the box couldnt write to it possible? or not? I have done all the re-sets...software upload etc. but nothing.
I have read hundreds of sky+ forum entries and cant find any similar problem. May be the guy isnt contacting sky to send the signal but why would he lie hes in constant contact with me and seems a nice guy.
Any ideas are welcome before I throw this ******** box out the window.)(-red

Take a photo of the system details screen and Email it to him, then there is less chance of a mistake being made when he gives them the details.

Also make sure it is running the latest firmware, try a forced update.

That's the same as mine, so it is up to date. :)

Can you see the normal default transponder 11778 V?

only in the mornings. Would only want to force a download if really needed as I have heard some horror stories of killing the box.

That may be the time to get them to send the signal.

Does your card number show up in system details screen? Or does it say 'no card present'?

It shows up. All the details are there. Had another day of the signal being sent but nothing happening. It seems to be a mystery to everyone even Sky.

The only thing I can think of is the signal quality is not very good <strength OK> would this make a difference?

The dish is aligned properly <have checked with meter> and all channels are clear without any breaking up.

HELP!!:-rofl2

Signal quality is the all important aspect it could be the reason, but it does seem very odd since it can read the card, unless the card reader is faulty and can read but not write in which case you would have to change the stb

I have good quality until about 11am maybe I need to get them to send signal before this....that should be fun

For all we know they might be deliberately not sending the signal knowing that you are ex pat and are sitting giggling reading these posts O-no

hmmm thats true . How do we know.....another mystery of life.

But I am getting a bit p...ed off. They are happy to take my money each month

I can understand your frustration but cannot really advise as it is out of my experience, indeed I do not even have Sky + and I am unsure as to how these 'agents' conduct their business
