hi guys i recently tried using my irish white sky card in dreambox 500s but to no avail. i followed most pointers i was giving but still got no where, i downloaded cccam 2.1.1 & newcs 1.66, used newwcs.xml examples i was giving just changing box key obviously; ran into a few problems at first though, could not get boxkey using telnet and typig cccam-d, it came up saying card init fail in continious text lines some pink some white- then i realised i could get serial number off box and do it this way and changing to hex, still no good though. oh and i also put n lines in cccam i got from tutorials to which say would do? has anyone in ireland got this working and could anyone who knows were i went wrong please give some pointers. thanks guys.
 
Try and break it down and do it step by step.

1. Make sure newcs is running, you can access the web interface and confirm your user is setup correctly, you should also see your card and the entitlments. Dont worry about the boxkey at this stage because if it is wrong you will only not clear the movies & sports all other channels will be fine.
2. Add your N line to your CCcam.cfg and you should see your channels.

Go back to the boxkey issue after the other channels are clearing
If you use B16mcc's config creator you can't got wrong

im quite sure newcs is running as cccam 2.1.1 and newcs is selected how actually do i get into web interface of it??
 
type your dreambox ip:8080 into a web browser
eg 192.168.1.2:8080 assuming you used port 8080 in your newcs.xml config
 
so basically your opening that port if set in your router, but should i be able to access channels as soon as i set up cccam and newcs?? or do i have to first go on web interface to adjust settings..... from tutorials it seems you dont have to access first but i just cant seem to get it going oh and im using the internal reader.
 
no your confusing the ports.
look in your newcs.xml and you'll see in the httpd section <port>8080</port> this is the port your access the web interface on and you dont need to worry about opening it on your router

If you intend to share externally you will need to open a port on your router (a different one) but dont worry about that yet just concentrate on getting the channels to clear locally first
 
yes i plan on just sharing at home anyway. i am on gemini 4.2 image to. i used newcs.xml doc examples i found is that ok??
 
if your only sharing at home you wont need to touch your router
I cant comment on your example newcs.xml coz i cant see it and we cant post complete configs here.
As i said before use this tool and you'll be fine
Post back when you have setup and can access the web interface
 
still cant acces web interface- this must be the problem it asks to take me directly to interface but it ends with failing page, i cant access web interface, although have no problem entering dreambox interface
 
No one got ideas so why i cant access newcs interface??
 
i have used this GREAT APP but still no joy when it asks do i want to connect to interface it just show error connection page. thanks for input any other suggestions??
 
the default port is set to 8080. you then access through a browser @ http://myDBip:8080 (if using IE make sure you type http://). If I understand you're not getting the login page (admin,admin)... this could be because of another application using port 8080, a firewall on your client or even a browser issue.
can ping the db right?
 
ya tried my dream ip with 8080 still no joy.. if a router port is open to 8080 will this cause a problem??
 
How are you starting NewCS on the Dreambox, telnet, blue panel ?
Are you sure it's actually running ?
Start it via telnet and use the debug switch, it will then tell you whats happening.

I can't give you the telnet command line because I'm not familiar with where the binary is on an old E1 box and I don't know for sure what the actual file name will be but it will be something like :-
./var/bin/NewCS_1.66 -d
Maybe some one can help with that.
 
ya using the blue button? have 2.1.1 and newcs 1.6 running well thats what it says on panel. how do you debug if you dont mind me asking?? i use dcc if that makes any difference and telnet from there and when i tried telnet to get boxkey just got a long fail message..
 
i went into my dcc control panel went to var/bin and only had 2.1.1 in there so i ftp'd a newcs 1.66 to folder but to no difference still same cant access interface nor get channels off card. i wonder if there is an internal reader fault??
 
Not sure what you mean about telnet for boxkey. You will not get your boxkey from a telnet session. You need to get the serial from your sly box and convert it to hex and add it to your newcs.xml , again my config creator will take care of this.

If its not available on your images addon panel then I recommend you look around for an installer package for NewCS 1.67 & CCcam 2.1.2 in IPK format. FTP it to /tmp and do a manual install from your addons panel.

It seems you have little knowledge on what your actually doing here, please read a lot more and don't expect to get this working this week.
Use the config creator and use the latest versions of all the software.
Be sure you have the correct boxkey.
Run NewCS from telnet using debug to see what's happening.
For a telnet session from a windows pc use DCC or Putty.

Make sure you understand what you are trying to do here and the required config files.
