Sky Italia HD in Cyprus dish size?

Hello,

What dish diameter would be suggested for reception of Sky Italia HD channels in Nicosia, Cyprus?

A friend had a 0.9m one installed but it seemed small to me for HD channels. In fact it seems like the picture freezes every few seconds in the HD channels. Signal quality drops under 40% at times, but even at 60% freezes occur.

What do you think?
 
That size dish should be okay,but I think you need critical aligning for HD signals,especially the skew of the LNB. Unless he is also watching through a dreambox,then thats another story.
 
Hmm, how do you mean? He has one like mine: DigitalBox HDST 1200. Would that be under powered for HD channels or something similar?

So it's not a matter of dish size requiring larger diameter for HD channels rather than SD ones on the same satellite?
 
Does he have his own subscription - which would indicate a signal problem or is he on a card share in which case its more likely to be a key update problem

If its the latter than basically tough - if he wants guaranteed reception tell him to buy his own subs card.

Is that a linux/dreambox software or does he have the original card ?
 
Hmm, I expect he's not using an original Sky box. I'll ask to make sure, but just to get the other thing out of the way: dish size does not need to be bigger for HD channels?
 
My friend has/had a skyitalia box/card and was receiving all the channels okay on a 90cm dish. Until he tried sharing it and burnt the card.
