SKY Italia pin

I recently brought over a SKY Italia HD MY Sky box and have been storing movies on the hard drive. I accessed the protect recording option and it asked for a pin to delete the recording. I tried the default 000, 1234 and the last four digits of the card to no avail. Is the only way to resolve this to wait until I am back in italy, phone them and have them reset the pin?

Also more importantly is there any repercussions from not knowing the pin? Luckily I previously had not activated the pin for locking movies so we never get a request for the pin. I know in the uk some late night movies require a pin due to ofcom but this isnt the case for sky italia right?

With Sky UK you can reset the pin on the My Sky web accounts. You may be able to do the same if theres an equivalent Italian version
 
@Analoguesat Thanks, I had thought of this but could there be an issue with them noting my IP address from the UK? Id hate to have them disactivate the card for something so 'trivial'.
 
Unless you changed the pin number it's 0000. That's the default, I'm 100% sure of it.
Also try 1111 if that doesn't work.
Has the card ever been in another decoder before you got MySky??
 
@denis1501 you are correct the default is 0000, this is our second sky italia box - I reckon the pin was changed with the first box. I have also tried 1111 to no joy.

edit : double checked again with both, wont take them.
 
If that's the case you'll have to contact customer services to get it reset. You can do it through the 'area clienti' part of the Sky Italia website. Go to 'fai da te' after logging on. Then just find the contact section and send them a message. You are Italian, right?
 
@denis1501 yes well, scotsitalian - I entered the codice fiscale and client number but was put off by the legal pop up; Id hate for SKY Italia to realise I was using the card abroad. Am I being paranoid for no reason?
 
Well, I can't give you a 100% guarantee but I've used the 'fai da te' method lots of times from Ireland without issue.
