I am an absolute satellite beginner and just moved into a house with a minidish on the roof (in London/UK). I have cable TV and would like to use the Satellite just as a second "low cost" system. Looking at things I got very confused and I hope to find a few answers from the experts:

- very cheap analouge system will that work with the minidish ?
- buying any Digital receiver will get me what channels ?
- if I buy a sky box what channels can I get for free (domestic and foreign)

I greatly appreciate your help on this .

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-Jul-02 AT 11:32 AM (GMT)]With the dish pointing at 28.2E (Sky Digital's location) there is no analogue and the best receiver for this location is a Sky Digibox. You can get a free to view BBC card to enhance the number of channels achievable. http://www.lyngsat.com/ http://www.satcodx2.com/0282/eng/
If you swing the dish round west by 9 degrees, you could use an analogue receiver to receive mainly German language channels, but also Eurosport with an English soundtrack. A digital free to air receiver will give you slightly more channels, but mainly foreign language.
