In total there were 16.5 million visits to the site last month, up 85% from 8.9 million visits recorded in July 2006. </p><p></p><p>Deputy editor, Sky News Interactive, Adam Harding said: "More and more people are visiting the Sky News website and staying for longer. Our aim is to attract new and existing users by continuing to develop sky.com/news as the home for breaking news online."</p><p></p><p>Elsewhere in the company, Sky is strengthening its online team by creating two new posts with a remit to discover the best talent from the web and identify online social trends. The teams will report in to a newly created online content management team led by project managers Steve Jones, Sky One commissioning editor for entertainment and factual entertainment and Carly Crouse, director of web content, Sky Online.</p><p></p><p>The new positions have been created by Sophie Turner Laing, managing director entertainment and Andrew Hawken, editorial director, Sky Online, tying into Sky's objective of delivering creative content across a range of platforms.</p><p></p><p>Sophie Turner Laing said: "This is a dream job for those who love to surf the web for fresh ideas. Sky has always been an innovator in the fields of new technology and ground-breaking content and this newly created team will help Sky to remain at the cutting edge of new ideas and developments online.
