Hi all and apologies in advance for any lack of technical terminology.

I've just moved back to the UK and have shipped back my 42" Panasonic plasma and subscribed to Sky. There is no scart socket of the back of my 'bought in Malaysia / made in Japan' TV, so I bought on Sky's advice a 30 quid 'composite video and audio to scart cable kit' to connect to the AV channels. However, it doesn't work - the AV channels don't seem to be 'tunable'.

So, called Sky again and they told me to connect the RF sockets from the Sky box to the TV and that this is the only solution.

This works after tuning the TV channel, but the quality is far from great.

So, in short - is there a solution anyone can share with me?

Huge thanks in advance for all help.

Welcome,

Scart to composite Video/audio should work really. Make sure there wasn't a switch on the scart end, as some are bi-directional.

Thanks, but just checked and no switch. The Sky technical support said it's the way the 'made in Japan' TV is 'configured', but my logic tells me since I can pick it up on the TV channel I must be able to, somehow, on the AV channels.

What are the input sockets on the TV

From searching the specs it's got the following:

SD Memory Card Slot : No
HDMI Input : 1
Composite Video Input :AV1/2/3 : RCA phono type (3 rear)
S-Video Input :AV1 : Mini DIN 4-pin (rear)
Audio Input (for Video) : AV1/2/3 : RCA phono type connectors [L,R] (3 sets rear)
Component Video Input :AV2/3 : RCA phono type [Y, PB/ CB, PR/CR] (2 sets rear)
Audio Input (for HDMI--COMMA-- PC- : RCA phono type connectors (L, R) (1 set, rear)
-COMMA-- Component)
Monitor Out : RCA phono type (1rear)
Audio Output : RCA phono type connectors (L, R) (1 set, rear)

The model, if it helps, is Panasonic TH-42PA60 - bought in Malaysia.

Hello!
how the picture exactly look?
only no color black and white?
we here in europe has multinorm telvisions that supports nearly every tv standart pal 50/60 ntsc /443 and so on,but i think pal compatibles,or multinorn telvision itself are not a standart,or maybe not avalible in asia or usa, bechause not many peaple need pal telvision,in this areas,i think it is not a problem of the tv norm it self, maybe this tv screen only supports 60 HZ,and not pal 50 hz
when you have a sky hd box,and the hdmi input also on your panasonic tv,then it should work without anyproblems, when nothing help, then only a transformation of the tv norm solves the problem,i use in the past for import consoles, the panasonic W1 you conect it to chinch input, slect the norm that you want on the output to the tv ,and here we go!

modell long time out of production, you will only find,2.hand!
