sky+ pin number

i was just about to watch something off my hard drive when i got the message enter your pin. i havent set up any pin number so i dont know what it means. it was working fine lastnight.
i cant find my manual to see if there are any preset pin numbers it might be refering to. has anyone heard of this?

PIN = last 4 digits of the first card you had with Sky DIGITAL. Early-joiner would be 2 cards ago, later joiner potentially 1 card ago, very newbie = this card.
 
It's the latest software update, causing a lot of problems with people like yourself who have never set a pin number. Sky must be receiving loads of calls. :)
 
it only happens sometimes, its strange. i might be a recent programme ive recorded or it could be an older recording
 
It's meant to only happen on age restricted programmes out of watershed hours.

So if you record a BBC documentary you should never get asked for the pin when playing it back, but if you record a 15/18 rated film and try and watch it at 2pm you will get asked for a pin. That's the theory anyway :)
 
As far as I know you can't.

I don't know if Sky have decided that this might be 'useful' to customers or if someone has told them they need PIN protection to show watershed programmes during the day, but either way it looks like people are just going to have to live with it.
 
it is new; Sky blame Ofcom; Ofcom deny that this was their suggestion.
Any recorded post-watershed programme viewed before 20:00 will demand this PIN. You absolutely cannot turn this off.

Have a look in Services - Parental Control - it's all new.
