In hours what is the approx recording capacity of
the standard 40gb sky + hard disk.??
Is there any way one can see what free space is left. ??

approximately 20 hours is what you'll get. An hour programme including ads is 5-6% of the diskspace.

record some sport and you'll see you'll need more than 1% disk per 10 minutes because of the higher bitrates.

you see free space displayed as a %.
