Advice Needed Sky Stream

Sky Broadband I assume you mean? No, if you turn it off you won't get the internet or able to stream Sky content ..

Here in Portugal I have Meo's TV, internet and telephone service. I would like to know if I will need the Meo router or not
 
Your router supplies the internet to your home.

Sky Stream allows you to watch Sky TV via your internet connection instead of via a satellite dish however, it probably won't work in Portugal.

Switch off the router, no internet equals no Sky stream..simples. Also if you are outside the UK, Sky stream is highly unlikely to work anyway.
 
a smart dns service or VPN may suffice but im sure it will be against the terms and conditions in the sky stream contract.
 
Sky Q wouldn't show on demand programs for me unless I had Sky Broadband as well, so Sky stream is like 99.99999% not likely to work without Sky internet.

So in other words if sky stream comes with vpn router I don't need my meo router

Sky UK/DE/IT wont provide you with a means to watch content from that territory. The wont ship to portugal. Have you bought some 3rd party hardware that has been labelled as something it is not?

Sky stream is a standalone box, plugs into, or connects to your existing provider's router.

However it is Geolocked and will not work in Portugal without the use of a Virtual Private Network providing a British IP, (not even guaranteed to work that way). Your MEO router would need to be capable of this, or you may need to use it in modem mode (if available) and use a non-proprietory router with that capability.

Well it isn't illegal as such, as you are paying for what is a legitimate stream. I presume that's organised via a third party if you don't have a UK address, which I would guess is outside the terms of the contract. However it does need a VPN to work and many routers do not provide that facility. £199 plus £39.99 shipping and then the cost of the package and paid VPN on top.
