SKy+ switching its self off over night???

Sky+, JVC Flat screen tv and sony DVD..... no HD yet.
My Location
Guildford area
Hello, I have had the system in place for about a year and it has been switched off for 4 months due to a house fire and not living at the address. Now the box turns its self off over night, The kids wake me to say "there is something wrong with the tele. have done a system reset via services, system set up 01 select, House keeping and still no joy. Any ideas.

Pretty irritating I agree. I like the energy saving but the problem for me is that when I switch it back on in the morning via the magic eye in my bedroom, it does not raise pin 8 on the scart on the box so when my main telly is switched on, it does not detect the wide screen mode. grrr!

To disable this function go to Services/setup sky+/Autostandby=off

A system update will not fix it as they update it with the default set to on. This is a new feature that has been added in the past few weeks. They made a big deal taliking about how much energy will be saved, but me thinks it is more about Sky Anytime - probably needs to see the box is dormant when it dumps the stuff on you disk. Anyway right or wrong the features (Autostandby and Anytime appeared at the same time).

If it is a known problem for users are you saying Sky don't intend correcting the problem? how many thousands of parents could this affect? hundreds of thousands therefore a solution needs engineering. Any solution will require downloading.

It is not regarded as a problem since they built this "autostandby" feature in their latest software. They claim they did it for the good of the planet. Clasic example of their nanny knows best attitude. See recent issues of wotsat for the story.

I contacted Sky to ask if the hard drive could be switched off at night. The answer I received was 'No' so my box HD runs continuously.

Well hello boys and girls, the auto stand by is now set to the off position and the kids dont wake me up to moan about the tv being broke.
