Hello all, it's been a while since I posted. I currently have a sky+ HD box with a 1.3m dish (Nr Malaga spain) and get near perfect reception all the year round, I am thinking of changing to fresat to get rid of the subscription and fancy the Samsung Freesat+ box, is it just a case of plugging it in ? or will adjustments be necessary ?

Regards

Kevin

If you currently get the BBC & ITV channels then its just a case of plug n play.

You will be asked for a postcode when you set the box up for the first time. This regionalises the box so chose a UK one from an appropriate area.

Errm, why not just let the subscription lapse and use FreesatfromSky?

The financial equation is £10 Recording Tax to keep the Sky+ PVR functions vs. Capital costs of a Freesat PVR.

The last information I had was that you have to have some small contract with Sky to get Sky+ and have to authorise the box whereas Freesat+ is plug and play is this out of date ?

If you want to have the recording part of the SKy box activated then you have to pay £10/month for this to be activated.

If you dont want to pay Sky another bent cent then buy a Freesat+ box and you can record & play back to your hearts content with no fee.
