I shall be moving to Bergen Norway soon and I want to take my Sky HD subscription with me ( I have a uk address). What channels will I lose if any and what size dish is recommended?

Hi,
From the footprint map ( as a rough guide) it looks like your going to be just on the edge of the footprint of ASTRA2d (BBC and ITV channels)

lyngsat says a 90-120cm dish needed.

_http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/maps/astra2d.html

It looks like you are a bit marginal on the 2A and 2B south beams also.

There may be some useful info here:-
http://www.satellites.co.uk/satelli...2636-astra-2d-reception-dish-size-survey.html
and here generally:-
http://www.satellites.co.uk/satellite/sky-digital-uk-platform-astra-28-2e-fringe-reception-tech/

I just had a quick serach on the forum and found this post

http://www.satellites.co.uk/satelli...on-tech/73548-astra-2d-sweden.html#post425042

If you do a bit more searching you might find a few more like it, but it sounds like an Andrews or Channel master 1.2m would do the trick.

always a bit better to get a larger dish than the footprint says so if it says 120cm then a 180cm will be better to be sure you will get a signal

Yes, certainly looks like a good quality 1.2m dish should suffice. :)

Hi Live just 1 hour west of Oslo and a 100cm disk picks up Sky fine, 50% Signal 80% Quality , so maybe even a 90cm for the West Coast

Hi,

I am living in Bergen Norway. I have a sky subscription.

I am getting a zero BER signal for all but the most severe weather (once or twice per year) on astra 2d with an Andrews Channel Master 1.2m with feed horn and a 0.3dB C120 LNB.

The encrypted signals on the other sats at 28.2 E are much higher signal strength and are no problem ever.

My official sky digibox has better sensitivity and has never has a bad picture it is only the dreambox 7020s that has problems in the worst weather.

One word of warning the local satellite shops are extremely expensive. I recommend you to source your dish in the uk and the wall mount for that matter.

The 1.2m channel master price in the uk plus shipping plus import taxes is about the same as buying it here, i.e. more than twice the price.. If you bring it with you then you wont need to worry about any of that...

Initially I tried a 90cm dish and it was ok but only in good weather which, does not happen very often in Bergen!

Good luck.

Cheers,

Stvy

Thanks. The 1.4m dish can just about get a signal with BB1 NE Strength 40% Quality up to 40% but fluctuating in and out. aaaagh!.

Thats with a Invacom 0.3dB lnb, which came with the used dish. I have an MTI 0.6db which I will try tonight.
