Sky have a brand new offer this month that's being advertised at Universities around the country.

The main draw for students staying away from home during term times is that you can stop and start the subscription at any time. There is no minimum contract. You need a NUS card to be eligible.

For £49 you get a refurbished digibox, remote, dish and installation. After that you'll pay £2 more per month than the regular Sky subscription prices. This may seem like a raw deal but if, like me, you're away for say 9 or 10 months of the year it's cheaper than cancelling the contract and paying it off, especially if you subscribe to a few mixes or premium channels.

£17 per month for 2 mixes, £20 for 4 mixes or £23 for all six mixes. Premium channels do of course carry the usual high price tags.

This offer is not available with any other hardware - you get a refurbished digibox - Sky+ and HD are not available on a month-by-month basis.

The url you need to visit is: http://www.sky.com/students

Ends December 15th.

However, you show me a student or group of students who are prepared to pay that as well as a TV license and I will show them my a*se. You cannot buy a TV license for a month thus it is a year or nothing. What planet do these marketing idiots live on? do they actually get paid money?

Yes, they believe students are rich...and from what I've seen, some are.

As for the TV licence, they can be bought in quarters, either paying quarterly and cancelling + informing them you have moved before the last quarter, or buying a year up front and getting a refund if it's sent back to TVLA before the third quarter starts.
