SKY + User wishing to upgrade to Better System ie dreambox etc - any help please

HI As a recent sky+ HD Subscriber, I am a little dissatisfied with the capabilities with the BOX - I wish to keep my recordings for future viewing on my Computer & also have the ability to add extra storage as i wish.

I can record my HD Recordings via Scart & Capture them - but it's so tedious !

I have 3 Questions if i May :

1) If i bought a Dreambox - can i use my Sky + HD Card in there ? (Without having to ring sky yawn yawn) - or is it a matter of having to get the card paired up ? and if so are sky OK about this ?

2) I wish to be able to take my recordings FTA & Others - to My PC via a cable / ethernet USB or removable Hard drive - is this possible via a dreambox ?

3 ) Can I take the recording the HD Ones specifically over to my PC as well, as i believe these are in a protected format ?

(1) Sky will not be ok about it - they jealously guard their monopolistic use of "genuine" NDS CAM. I strongly adivse you not to contact them about your proposal!
 
1) You cant pair a Sky card to a none Sky box :D If the box is set up correctly the box will read the card with no intervention by Sky.

OK So how do i activate my sky+ Card on dreambox then ? and will i Need a specific CAM for this ? Apologies for being a bit vague as i am quite new to the dreambox option
 
You need to have a look at the Dreambox section David, there are lots of threads regarding setting up with relevant software to read Sky cards, it requires a degree of knowledge, but all of the information is there.

You dont - you activate it in a Sky box and then move the card to the DB. :D
