My Sky services end on August 1st and I get a marketing item through the post this morning 35% off Sky packages. They have more front than Blackpool. So I went on to Sky Chat and got an advisor to cancel ALL marketing. Don't they realise that If I had wanted to stay with them I'd have take out a new subscription? They must drink Bi-carb in pints when a customer leaves them. :D You have to admire their audacity.

Numpties the lot of 'em! Sorry Sky, but I would not have your services back even if you gave them to me free for the next 5 years.

Virgin Media are not that much better. Been with them since it was C&W but they keep increasing the costs. I had loads of problems a couple of years back with poor quality signals on the TV and broadband dropping out. After 4 engineers could not fix it I sent them a solicitors letter asking for a full refund for the last few years. Hey ho along came the chief area engineer. Took a look, did some tests and discovered a fault with the cable from the box down the road to the house. When the original cable was laid they has used 5 separate bits and joined them. Had a new heavier service cable laid on a Saturday and got free broadband for 3 months, plus the solicitors letter paid for.

I have no problems with Sky, other than the ever increasing subscription prices. But what are the alternatives when Mrs CJ wants to watch the latest episode of Desperate Housewives on Sky Whatever?

I got myself a now TV box. It streams 13 channels. And I can use it at both houses with just the 1 account. £6.99 a month though.

But glad to get rid of the costly packages as I don't watch that much TV.

It's not Sky that annoys me per se, but the fact they keep racking up the bloody subscriptions! That's why I have had enough of paying out money to them. I have a smart blu-ray player as part of my AV gear and I can watch YouTube videos until the cows come home. Also I have the 1m dish and motor so why keep paying out good money every month? There's just no need!

The real thing that DOES bug me about Sky is the advisors. They tell more bloody fairy tales than Hans Christian Anderson and I'm sure they make it up as they go along to suit their own mindsets. No, I'm glad to be leaving this service and I have no regrets in doing so, but it's time to move forward and leave Sky alone. I'm counting the hours until my services end on Saturday August 1st with a big grin on my boat race! :D

the one thing that riles me more than anything is the amount of adverts... look how much they have made in profit recently.

That's another thing! You have to pay a subscription to watch adverts? That really is taking the p--s! They are coining it from subs and advertisers. The whole damned lot should be free to air.

I agree that premium channels, such as sport and movies should not carry adverts. Most of the other providers don't have it on their premiums. I can live with them on "basic" ones.

I believe that they're claiming that their churn rate is down this year. Must be lots of satisfied customers...
