im considering buying the humax freesat+hdr recorder machine to replace my basic sky box.
i have already a sky dish on the wall with a single lnb. (would it be better to add a quad to save time in future if i wish to put my old sky box in the bedroom)
am i right that i would need to add a twin lnb so as to use the twin tuner facility. Could i do this myself? - mmm i think im quite capable.

Yes all you need a is a quad lnb and that way you have two feeds for the twin tuner PVR, watch one record one and a third cable for the spare sky box. Easy enough job provided you buy the correct lnb to suit your dish as some are different. Yes Do it yourself I am sure you are more than capable
 
Since you have a sky dish, assuming it's a minidish, only singles and quads are available anyway. You can get a WNC quad from ebay for about a tenner delivered.
