I have a Sony Bravia Freesat TV which we discovered we could not record from by using our Sony DVD recorder. Very annoying! )(-red

To solve the problem of now not being able to record anything using our Sony DVD recorder a friend offered us an Amstrad Skybox DRX550. Can this be hooked up to the DVD recorder so that the signal pipes from the dish to the skybox to the Sony HXD890 DVD recorder? Is this what I should do? The manual for the DVD recorder is not very helpful.

There should be no reason why the Skybox cant use the SCART input of the DVD recorder for recording. If it does, then there is really no reason why the TV can't provide you with a similar recording, however you will have to leave the TV on (and not change channels) to do so successfully

Thanks for replying.

When I quizzed Sony about how to record the Freesat from the Bravia with my Sony recorder they initially took me through 2 set up combinations before admitting that I could only record when the tv was on and only the channel I was watching which, to be honest, is not what I got a recorder for. Hence trying to think of some other way of getting my set up to work. I want to be able to record like I did in the good old days before we bought a Sony Bravia with Freesat!

So you think I should be able to scart link the skybox to the recorder and I should be able to record whatever I want when I want from the skybox? The skybox didn't come with a manual so I may have to look for one online.
