i want to enter my position details into the SL65
but the longitude setting is minus -
Lon: 1:45:28W (-1.75764)

how do you enter the minus symbol into this, i can only enter 1.75 not -1.75

Yes, if you have an option to change E&W then just insert the longitude coordinates. Not familiar with that receiver I'm afraid.

I've an SL65 if you encounter any further driving issues!

In general, some receiver types need + or - for East/West and some simply need E or W ................ and they also vary in how you manage to toggle between +/- or E/W.

But the answer, as you have found, is just to play around.
