It looks like I've unwittingly commenced membership with this service, only through the 'faster delivery' service, since I don't have any other perks (TV/music/reading access).

I've also had two messages saying there is no active card associated with the account but they will attempt to take the annual fee through 'another method' in a month's time.

Has anyone else found details of a debit request appearing on their Amazon account without actually consciously signing up for it ?

Yep. About three years ago. They reversed it without quibble, thankfully.

SWMBO has also managed to accidentally sign up on her work account, too.

There was much fuss in the Press about how easy it is to unwittingly subscribe.

Seems like they're back to their old tricks as the last couple of orders I've made needed to be stopped before lighting the blue touch paper owing to ever more boxes to find and deal with. It's an insidious form of inertia selling and should be outlawed.

Thanks.

Looking through recent orders it looks like a single item (a windscreen wiper) is the only one specifically Prime.
Somewhat annoying since the other two for the car were on separate orders, as were the other pieces required for the MOT.

Same here, they foisted Amazon prime on me, I only knew when I checked my online bank account and found a charge.
I quickly stopped it, contacted Amazon, who apologized, and refunded the money.
I then requested that they stop offering this service, to me, as I wasn't interested, but they stated that they couldn't.
You just have to be very careful, to avoid it, and also avoid the offer of free next day delivery.
I also noticed that future orders arrived with the Amazon Prime tape, so I always check that they haven't signed me up again.

I fell for that last year.I paniked and cancelled straight away. I rarely order anything from there now.

I know vulnerable people who have been cought out into accidentally subscribing to Prime through one of the multitude of possibilities that are offered to subscribe. I have been caught out myself too. Fortunetly it was for a trial which I was able to cancel on time. Others may not know how to.

and

Amazon.co.uk Help: Turn Off Your Amazon Prime Membership Renewal

The second includes a reminder email to be sent three days before renewal is due, in case there is a need to go up to the month's end.

Yep, was caught out myself, but swiftly cancelled it, as did a couple of other people I know.

It happened to me a few years ago when I ordered something from them. I have no idea how it happened as I have a profound loathing for Prime due to its funding of the ex-Top Gear trio. I refuse to have anything to do with such drivel or its carrier service.

Having said that they reversed it pretty quickly after a flaming email was sent to them.

I tend to always look elsewhere for parts before Amazon. I'll sometimes only use them information.

They are good at catching people. I somehow slided into being 'primed' some time ago.
Then after thinking more about it, got out. Maybe of interest or useful for those who buy lot's of stuff all the time.
Overall, very satisfied with the service \ products bought using amazon.

And the unfortunate Jeff, he'll soon get a megabill from his ex-wife, and suddenly become a very, very poor man. He needs our support ! Buy lot's of things on Amazon ! lol > How Much Will Jeff Bezos' Divorce Cost the World's Richest Man?

Being one of those families which (probably unfortunately!) buys quite a lot via Amazon, TBH Prime works for us on a "monatorization" basis as we do watch a reasonable amount of stuff on the Amazon Prime video service because it's effectively "free". Others will differ but it does more or less work for us.

Yep happened to me, at the time I did not untick a box when using their next day service, again they reversed it

Yes I got caught a few times now I am more familiar on how it works I will cancel when it suits me,

Tonight I am watching Crystal Palace v Bournemouth in Ultra HD on the Prime stream 3840 x 2160p excellent quality with several matches well worth it For the Xmas period :) Amazon.co.uk: Prime Video

I signed up to a free 30 day trial on my PS3 last night, the only payment account I have with this is my prepaid psn account, but no mention of being charged anywhere, I have my doubts.
