I bought a Slingbox Classic on fleabay. It works fine on my local LAN, but I want to be able to stream F1 racing to my mate in NZ, which is why I bought the Slingbox.
Problem:
I can't get the SB to take my network settings.
The remotes are for E1 boxes only - no E2 remotes in Slingbox list. (not too important as have web interface).
Setup:
Tenda router supplying DHCP server.
Cisco837 router to connect to internet.
Netgear Gigabit switch.
Slingbox classic with latest firmware updates and player plugged into netgear switch. Cisco and Tenda connected to netgear switch.
The problem:
I go to 'setup internet viewing' in the setup assistant and change the IP, gateway, DNS etc on the SB. When I hit next it then tries to check whether the internet setup works - this fails and which ever option I then take causes the settings I have made to be discarded.
I have no free ports ion the Cisco to plug the SB directly into it and a temp test 'borrowing' a port made no difference.
I have set up what I think is a DHCP server on the Cisco, but the SB will not use it/it is not working. I am not an IOS expert, so it might well be the DHCP server is set up incorrectly.
Any help greatly appreciated. This weekend is the next race and I would like to help my mate in NZ. (They broadcast F1 on sub TV only in NZ).
