Smart MX 04 Ci - Problem With Multiple Sats.

My Satellite Setup
motorised 85cm dish, crappy smart mx 04 ci receiver
My Location
Germany
Just got one of these Smart MX 04 Ci receivers, can’t say I’m impressed thus far.

I somehow managed to scan both 28.2°E and 26.2°E, made a favourites list with channels from both satellites, but every time I try to switch from, say, BBC 1 to Dubai One, it just doesn’t work. The dish doesn’t move. It seems to switch to 19.2°E okay, not that that does me any good, nothing on there that I watch. 42°E doesn’t work, either.

Whenever I did manage to get Dubai One in, the situation was reversed, couldn’t switch to Astra 2/Eurobird.

Any suggestions?

Did your motorised dish work prior to buying the Smart receiver?

Yes, it worked just fine with my old Hyundai HSS-820HCI, before it got fried by an electrical surge.

Going to reset the thing today and see if matching up the satellite positions on the receiver with those stored in the sat rotor is going to make any difference.

Right, went ahead and reset the box to factory defaults, erased all the pre-programmed channels, and scanned selected transponders on about six satellites, saving them under the same numbers as those listed in the manual for the rotor. That worked fine, except I still wasn’t able to move the dish onto Turksat, in fact it refused to go any further east than Eurobird. I hadn’t set any limits. Decided to click on an ‘Erase all’ button in the motor set-up section of the receiver software, which meant I had to locate all the sats all over again, but from that point, I was able to move the dish further eastwards.
